Constitution and Club Rules

CONSTITUTION

 

1. The name of the club shall be: "Leigh and District Rambling Club".

 

2. The objectives of the club shall be to encourage rambling, to foster a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside and to promote mental and physical wellbeing.

 

3. Membership is open to anyone who upholds the objectives set out. The committee shall have the capacity to refuse or suspend the membership of any person.

 

4. The membership subscription shall be as arranged by the committee.

 

5. The elected committee shall manage the affairs according to the rules agreed at the AGM. The Committee shall consist of a maximum of nine members. Five shall form a quorum.

 

6. The club shall be non-profit earning. The committee shall be responsible for all expenditure.

 

7. The financial year shall be January 1st to December 31st. A copy of the audited accounts shall be ready for the AGM.

 

8. The AGM shall be held in January.

 

9. Nominations for committee should be submitted at least fourteen days prior to the AGM. Nominations are to be proposed and seconded by two committee members.

 

10. Any alteration to the constitution shall be made only at the AGM.

 

Club Rules. In their own interests members should have :

 

1.    waterproofs and wear appropriate clothing

 

2.    walking boots or shoes fit for purpose

 

3.    a rucksack

 

4.    adequate food and drink for the day

 

5.    a simple first-aid kit

 

6.    a change of clothes to be left on the coach in case others get wet

 

7.    no dirty boots to be taken on the coach

 

8.    members are expected to choose a walk suitable for their current fitness level and to follow instructions from the walk leader.

 

9.    leaders of all walks reserve the right to refuse to have members on their walk who are ill-equipped and/or the walk is not suitable for them.

 

10.  leaders of all walks reserve the right to decide on a minimum and maximum number of people joining their walk and may appoint a backmarker who will remain at the rear.

 

NB; The club cannot be held responsible for personal accidents which may occur on any of the walks.
